Everything we do here at Cadena is with you in mind. From the design, the choice of materials, to the service we provide. We didn’t want to make the same mistake so many other brands do, which is cheap out on low-quality metals such as brass that initially look good, but quickly lose their colour, scratch easily, cause skin irritations, make your skin look like you have been attacked by the grinch and disintegrate to even the smallest exposure of water.
However, here at Cadena, we wanted to sleep peacefully at night knowing you are getting the best quality possible. We worked hard on finding the best suppliers through independently testing the jewellery ourselves. If they didn’t use premium metals, we changed supplier. If the jewellery changed colour or lost quality after being submerged in water, left in different weathering conditions and worn by our friends all day every day for 30 days, we changed supplier. If they didn’t share our high standards and maintain our values regarding ethical business conduct, we changed supplier. This was so we could be proud and absolutely confident with our pieces.
Transparency is a core principle here, so if you’re interested in finding out exactly what makes our jewellery so amazing, please feel free to read on, where we will talk about in detail all the premium metals that go into our jewellery…
The Juicy Details
Hypoallergenic - We made sure to only use premium materials that are suitable for all skin types.
Water-resistant - We wanted you to be able to show off your beautiful jewellery everywhere you go; so you can wear it in the shower, wear it in the gym, and keep it on in the rain.
Anti-tarnish - We made sure to use materials that last a lifetime; so no rust, no colour change and no green skin!
Trustworthy clasp - We all know the feeling of panic when you go to touch your jewellery, only to find it is no longer there! Well, you don't have to worry about that here. Our clasp is designed to only open and close when you desire (a bit like magic).
We use 14K gold over other purities because it is more durable, so you can wear our jewellery every day without having to worry about scratching or tarnishing. However, 14K gold tends not to have that real gold look people are after. But luckily for you, Cadena Jewellery was crafted with personal intention, our 14K gold is treated in such a special way that it gives you the same shiny and luxury feel you get from higher gold purities whilst being more durable and affordable for you.
Gold jewellery is strengthened with other alloys, or metal mixtures because pure gold is too soft for daily wear (you can bend pure gold with your hands). Our gold is mixed with premium metals and plated 5 times using a special technique called electroplating (which gives it that luxurious shine).
Our Cubic Zirconia
We all love diamonds but not the expensive price tag that comes with them. Right? Well then, Cubic Zirconia is your friend.
Cubic Zirconia is the gemstone that we use in lots of our pieces. It is a colourless, synthetic gemstone made of the cubic crystalline and is often regarded as an inexpensive diamond alternative. With the naked eye, it looks no different to most naturally occurring diamonds. It is though, 15% less durable than diamonds according to the Mohs scale of hardness, however considering diamond is the hardest naturally-occurring mineral in the world, you don’t have to ever worry about it getting scratched (unless it somehow got in a fight with a real diamond).
Again luckily for you, we use the highest quality Cubic Zirconia stones available to buy. They are so beautiful that you will have people believing they are real diamonds. It also means they will maintain their sparkle and beauty with minimal maintenance.
Our 925 Sterling Silver
We use 925 Sterling Silver for lots of our pieces because it is extremely durable (making it ideal for daily wear) and looks amazing. Although it is a lot more expensive, we believe the extra cost is worth it for the beauty, quality and lifetime value of the jewellery (and as you know quality is so important to us).
Sterling silver is an alloy made from 92.5 percent silver and 7.5 percent alloy because again pure silver would be too soft for jewellery. Unfortunately, lots of other companies use nickel as the alloy which can make it non-hypoallergenic (which isn’t great for the skin). However, our 925 sterling silver uses copper as the alloy, which is a more premium alternative that is hypoallergenic (which is great for the skin), as it is important for us that everyone has the opportunity to appreciate our jewellery.
Some of our 925 sterling silver, cubic zirconia pieces are plated with Rhodium. It is a precious metal – like gold, silver, or platinum – only more expensive! In fact, it is the most expensive of all the precious metals because it is very rare in nature!
We use Rhodium because it gives off the most beautiful silver shine (it reflects up to 80% of light) that works great to offset cubic zirconia. I promise that you will catch yourself always staring at because of gorgeous it looks on you. Not only that, it is the most durable precious metal you can buy, so it doesn’t tarnish, doesn’t scratch and doesn’t require maintenance to keep it looking shiny.
And again we can ensure you, we only use the best Rhodium giving the most luxurious feel to your jewellery.
Our Stainless Steel
Stainless steel is a very strong metal that is resistant to corrosion and the effects of heat, so it stands up well to everyday wear and tear and is also hypoallergenic (allergies are almost unheard of when it comes to stainless steel jewellery).
We use it as the base metal for some of our gold plated pieces, this is for durability so that your new jewellery will last a lifetime, as at Cadena Jewellery we see quality at the heart of our designs and as a brand, we say no to waste. Not only this, it is much affordable for you as we know ourselves how expensive jewellery can be nowadays! Plating 14K gold on stainless steel looks just as amazing as pure 14K gold would but it means is it even more durable and affordable for you!
We use 316L Stainless steel because it is the best option when it comes to jewellery. It can withstand severe corrosion environments and uses fewer carbon emissions in the production process compared to other types of stainless steel (so is better for the environment).
A Final Note

It’s my personal promise that if the high quality you were expecting (and rightfully so) isn’t up to your standards, then I will do everything in my power to amend this for you!
